During the early 1960's, the Greenbackville Vol. Fire Department began the tradition of visiting and delivering candy to all of the children in the Greenbackville fire district, with jolly old Saint Nick. This year's annual "Operation Santa Claus" was held on Christmas Eve, beginning at noon. (It is normally held the Saturday before Christmas). Due to inclement weather, it had to be canceled last year, so we were looking forward to resuming the popular event this year. We began the tour in Greenbackville, then traveled the main thoroughfares in the Captain's Cove subdivision. After visiting numerous families in the Cove, Engine 2-3 made the journey to Sign Post and Horntown, delivering candy and Christmas blessings to all those who greeted Santa. We would like to thank "Santa Claus" for visiting the greater Greenbackville area, once again this year. We hope everyone enjoyed the annual visit.
