2013 Annual Awards Banquet

The Greenbackville Volunteer Fire Department, held its annual awards banquet on March 2, 2013 at the departments Banquet Hall on Ellis Street, in Greenbackville. Social hour began at 6 pm and a delicious dinner was served by the Chincoteague Inn at 7. The awards program was held following dinner and a special slide presentation was shown at the conclusion of the program. The highlight of the evening was honoring Past Chief William L. Mariner, known to us as "Bill", for 50 years of active service to the department. He was presented resolutions from Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell, the Virginia House of Delegates, Accomack County Board of Supervisors, and the Virginia State Firefighters Association. The department presented Bill with a custom Jacket, Pierce shirt and a beautiful gold plated Axe mounted on a decorative board.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all who assisted with the banquet and its planning, including the staff of Chincoteague Inn; D.J. - Eddie Simpson, from Ed Rock Entertainment and Photographer Debbie Webster. We also wish to thank the Stockton Vol. Fire Company and Oak Hall Rescue, for providing stand-by coverage once again at our station!
