RECENT INCIDENT PICTURES:

5-26-09 - Station 2 was alerted to respond to a reported Hazardous Condition on Franklin City Road. Engine 2-3 and Utility 2-9 responded with five personnel, and arrived on location to find a 2 story wood-frame dwelling totally collapsed onto Franklin City Road, with power lines down. 2-13 (B. Mariner) established Franklin City Road Command, and requested A&N Electric, Virginia Dept. of Transportation and VSP to respond to the scene. Apparently, a strong gust of wind blew the vacant - unstable house over, which about a year ago had underwent some repairs that seriously deteriorated the frame. As you can see, a new home is being built directly behind the old one. This new home will be the second home built in Franklin City, in just over 2 years. Until now, Franklin City was a well-known ghost town. It was once a bustling waterfront "city", until the March '62 storm destroyed most of the town...
