Structure Fire - 12/9/10

Residential Structure Fire - Mumford Street, Greenbackville
On Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 1915 hours, Stations 2, Worcester - 200 (Stockton, Md.), Station 1 (New Church) and 4 (Atlantic) were alerted to respond to a reported Residential Structure Fire, at 39092 Mumford Street in Greenbackville.  This just happened to occur during Station 2's business meeting, so Greenbackville immediately had four (4) fully staffed units on the street. Chief 2 and Medic 2-1 arrived on scene to find nothing evident from the exterior. Engine 2-3 arrived almost simultaneously and Deputy Chief 2 (B. Outten) established Mumford Street command. Crews entered the one-story, single family dwelling to find a fire in the wall & chimney, adjoining the woodstove. Command was transferred to Chief 2 (J. Massey). The fire was quickly contained to the area of origin, and personnel utilized the thermal imaging camera (TIC) to check for extension. Command placed the situation under control and advised to have all incoming units continue, at a reduced rate. Stockton Rescue-Engine 2 arrived on location shortly thereafter and assisted with salvage & overall.  All other fire units were held in staging near the scene.

Units on scene: (Greenbackville) Medic 2-1, Engine 2-3, Tanker 2-7, Truck 2; (Stockton) Rescue-Engine 2, (New Church) Tanker 1-7; (Atlantic) Tanker 4-7. During the incident Engine 4-6, Rescue 1 and Rescue 4 were placed on station cover/transfer assignment at Station 2.
