March 24, 2010 - New "Tanker 2-7" placed into service:

Chief Jeff Massey placed the new "Tanker 2-7" in service at 1900 hrs, on March 16th. The new unit was built by Freedom Fire Equipment of Marietta, Georgia. The body is placed on a 2010 Peterbilt Model 348 chassis. It is powered by a 360 HP Cummins Diesel motor, coupled to an Allison automatic transmission. Unit is equipped with a 500 GPM Hale AP-50 pump and a 3000 gallon poly tank. Features include our new color scheme of Charcoal grey over Red; LED emergency & D.O.T. lighting package; Federal Q2B mechanical siren; (3) Stainless Steel dump valves, with controls located in both the cab and at the rear; 5" LDH rear intake; Whelen LED traffic advisor; rear-vision back-up camera with a LCD full color screen; Air Conditioning; Air ride seats; Alcoa Aluminum Wheels; and a 3000 gallon Fol-Da-Tank, for use during rural water shuttle operations. All lettering and graphics were completed by Makuchal Signs of Girdletree, Maryland. This unit will replace an aging 1978 Ford/L.T.I. tanker which served our community for over 32 years.
